Love, Like Christmas

I love, like it’s Christmas
Like I’m a gift perfectly wrapped for someone’s daughter
Who’s been both naughty and nice
Like the joyful spirit in the air
Like the houses down the streets and the trees donned with lights
You feel it everywhere
You’d wish it never ends
I love like that beautiful dress you put on
For that gala or ball

The perfume you wore
You’re like the centre of attention
That feeling of untouchable class

The smell of the exotic wine in a glass
The feeling of elegance and flawlessness
You’d look this way everyday, if you had it your way

I love like that good food you never say no to
That irresistible taste and aroma,
You can’t help but take a bite or two

You’d eat like your gluttony can put in a coma
That home-cooked meal with a passed-down recipe
That you can’t wait to have on holidays cos it’s a necessity

The hearty meal that makes you forget everything you’ve been through
Yea, it is that good
I love like a compliment

Sounds nice every time you hear it
You’d blush and turn your straight face to a wide smile
It makes your day and turns your mood bright

I love wholeheartedly as if my life depended on it
Just waiting on the universe to return the energy
I love so generously it hurts,

I get caution warnings every time I find myself falling
Well, I guess that’s one of my problems,
Champaign problems

More than just going with the flow
Slow, and free-falling as the snow
But it’s not for everyone, and

Neither is a cup of hot chocolate on a snowy morning
Christmas will come and go, but the feeling will linger
It may not be perfect, but it’s not malnourished either

It’s far from pretence
It’s rare, but immense
It’s genuine, and obvious
It’s intentional and it’s precious
It is love unequivocally,
It is me unapologetically,
It is Christmas, Merry Merry
